A brief History of All Saints

The present church was mainly built in the 14th century with the money raised by locals.

Significant contributions came from the de Pokelyngton family - a chantry was established in 1304 in memory of Remigius de Pokelyngton the former Sheriff of Holderness and Cumberland - and from Thomas de Berewyk, one of the country's richest wool merchants who gave money to the Kings of both England and Scotland in the 1340s.
