A brief History of All Saints

The church tower was added 100 years later. It is 120 feet high with the upper part housing the clock with its four faces; this was fully restored in 2003.

It also contains the bell chamber with a peal of eight bells. Five of these date from between 1650 and 1751, and it is recorded that they were rung in 1757 in an attempt to silence John Wesley, preaching in the market place.

The other three bells were given by the Scaife family in 1914 and 1952.
